At BayFirst, Yolanda leads the firm’s business operations at DHS Science & Technology, Customs & Border Protection and the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of lethality and weapons effectiveness, software development, cybersecurity, and program management.
Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work with various areas of the government and contracting world, including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. She has provided overall technical monitoring of several subway studies, including systems in Boston, MA and Melbourne Australia relating to chemical/biological defense. She has also studied the effects of a detonated warhead on military equipment to provide better performing equipment for soldiers.
Today, Yolanda provides contract support to the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Physical and Cyber Security Division. During her time supporting the cybersecurity efforts, she has worked in the areas of Software Assurance and Cyber Aviation. Yolanda currently provides technical and programmatic support to the Aviation Cyber Initiative Research and Development team in which, along with a team of SMEs, they can detect and evaluate vulnerabilities associated with various aircraft systems.
A graduate of Sweet Briar College with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science, Yolanda served as a trustee of the Board of Directors at Sweet Briar College and an Alumnae Board member for Sweet Briar College as well, She has received two individual Undersecretary Awards from the Department of Homeland Security for Outstanding Contractor Support.
