BayFirst was awarded a competitively sourced contract to provide IT services for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Mitigation Division.

Work has begun on an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) for FEMA’s Multi-Hazard (HAZUS) software tool. Also included is an evaluation and assessment of HAZUS’ compliance with Section 508. HAZUS is a risk estimation tool to assess the probability and severity of hazards related to earthquakes, high winds, and floods. It employs an extension of the ArcGIS software developed by ESRI, running on GIS platform ArcGIS9.2, and includes an Earthquake Model, Wind Loss Model, and Flood Model. BayFirst is providing IV&V for HAZUS and its companion programs and utilities, including coordination with outside vendors as necessary. This includes final evaluation and testing of the software, analysis of the testing and recommendations for improvement, and facilitation of subsequent software development processes associated with such recommendations. BayFirst is also testing HAZUS for 508 compliance, developing an assessment report for all non-compliant items, and providing follow-on support to FEMA in seeking appropriate exemptions.
